A bit about Paleo Diet and Fitness…
Hi, my name is Rebecca and I am the founder of Paleo Diet and Fitness. I have been following the Paleo diet since 2009 and it has simply changed my life. From my own personal experience I can tell you that I am feeling fitter, healthier, leaner and most importantly happier than I have ever been and I want to share the power of Paleo to help others transform their lives.
Since starting Paleo in 2009 I have been continually shocked at how few people in the UK are aware of the diet. Despite being the most searched for diet in both 2013 and 2014 the awareness of the Paleo lifestyle in the UK still has a long way to go. When I raise it in conversation the first response is inevitably a blank expression. This has become the norm. When I move onto explain the Paleo concept the response received is almost always “oh so it’s the Atkins diet then”. This is then inevitably followed by the re-telling of every bad experience possible of constipation and bad breath and the curse of high protein diets. I have learnt that the polite thing to do is nod along and confirm how awful that sounds but to assure them that Paleo is very different!
This made me realise how difficult it must be for those who are trying to follow a Paleo lifestyle but are receiving no support; not because people around them don’t care but because they just don’t understand. Whilst there are many online Paleo resources the majority of them are US based with only a handful representing the UK. There is nothing worse than finding a recipe you love to then discover that it contains ingredients not available in the UK or to find a Paleo product you want to purchase but it is only available in the US.
Paleo Diet and Fitness has been created to provide a UK based resource for all things Paleo. We want to provide advice, support and inspiration to those following a Paleo lifestyle. We want to spread the joy of Paleo throughout the UK and we hope that you will join us.
A bit about my Books…
In order to create the Paleo Diet and Fitness Books I have worked very closely with diet, nutrition and exercise professionals in order to provide the highest quality information and advice on the Paleo diet. I believe that the key to success of any diet is that it must be able to work around you and your lifestyle. It is simply the only way to approach sustainable weight loss and get rid of the diet demons.
I have therefore taken great care to ensure that the Paleo Diet and Fitness Books are flexible to work around your needs. From my own personal experience I wanted to emphasise the importance of both diet and fitness in order to create a sustainable new lifestyle. I therefore wanted to create a programme which provided ALL the information that would be needed in order to start your own Paleo journey. I am positive that you will find the greatest success and a healthier life through following the Paleo Diet and Fitness Plan. A bit about my Paleo journey…
Like many people I had been on diet after diet for as long as I can remember. They would all work for a while but inevitably I would end up piling the weight back on (and then some!) and before long I would be back to square one looking for another diet that was going to change my life. It was a depressing cycle that was ruling my life.
I was introduced to the Paleo diet by my personal trainer whilst living in Leeds in 2009. I had a holiday booked and decided that this was going to be the year when I was able to look forward to the prospect of wearing a bikini. I set up a 12 week training and diet plan based on Paleo and Tabata and threw myself into the regime.
I was shocked by the speed and extent of the results that I personally experienced. Within just a couple of weeks I could see that my body was changing shape creating a longer leaner silhouette. I was full of energy, my skin was glowing and I felt confident – and this was only two weeks in! By week 4 my clothes were starting to fall off me and I was visibly seeing a change in muscle definition and by week 8 I was a completely different person.
I was getting visibly leaner by the day with muscle tone that I never thought I could achieve. Looking the mirror became a joy not a chore and I was practically bouncing off the walls with energy and couldn’t wait to get to my gym sessions. The diet was easy to follow and most importantly enjoyable and I looked forward to every meal. I felt that the food I was eating was genuinely providing nourishment to my body and I could feel the benefits.
I was getting stronger and faster in the gym and I had a profound clarity of mind, everything was much clearer and I no longer experienced any “head fogs” as I used to call them. I was sleeping much better and was more productive at work and most importantly I was looking great. By the time I reached the end of my 12 week programme I was astounded with the results.
My body fat had reduced by 16% and I was now on the border of ideal/lean on the body fat charts. I had lost well over a stone in weight and had converted a further stone of fat to lean muscle and for the first time in my life I was proud of my body. My friends and family could not believe the transformation I had made in such a short period of time.
I went on my holiday so proud of my achievements and knowing that I had found a new way of life – I was happy, confident and content. I don’t believe it is any coincidence that I met my husband on that holiday. My experience of a Paleo lifestyle has simply been life changing and I hope you take the first step today towards taking back control of your health.
