The bedrock of the Paleo diet is REAL food. Essentially if a caveman would not have eaten it – neither should you! The diet is based around any food that could be hunted, grown or foraged by our ancestors and includes meats, fish, nuts, seeds, vegetables, fruit and natural oils. A full breakdown is provided in our eBook Introduction to Paleo along with a handy colour coded chart to carry with you when out and about.

The theory behind the Paleo diet is that we are biologically designed to eat and process only certain foods, therefore as other foods have been integrated into our diets over the years (such as grains and refined sugars) our bodies have not been able to adapt and as a result have failed to function effectively. However, it is these “integrated” foods which we have become increasingly reliant upon (think how much of your last 24 hours was made up of bread, pasta, processed food etc) and they often make up the majority of the food that we eat. The result is weight gain, fatigue and preventable illness.

By continuing to eat foods which our bodies cannot process we develop biochemical imbalances which affect what we eat and how we function. You may think that it is greed that is driving you to the bottom of the biscuit tin but your cravings and eating behaviour are controlled by hormones within your body. These hormones can become unbalanced due to the foods that you eat and until you “reset” your body and find a healthy biochemical balance you will struggle to maintain any weight loss or a long lasting healthy lifestyle.

If we remove these foods from our diet it allows our bodies to process our food effectively and return to optimum condition and functioning. Once you have taken this step then the power of Paleo really takes over working with the natural biology of your body to efficiently strip fat and create lean muscle. You no longer have to worry about counting calories, you will be able to eat healthy nutritious meals and snacks, lose weight, build lean muscle, and get in the best shape of your life. It is really that simple. The Paleo diet is the key to unlocking the secret to a healthier lifestyle.
